Greaseproof paper is specially engineered to resist oil and grease, making it perfect for food packaging and cooking applications. It’s made by refining the paper pulp to create a dense, low-permeability sheet. This sheet is then super calendered passed through hard pressure rollers to form glassine paper. The glassine is further treated to seal its pores, giving it strong grease and fat-resistant properties.
Natural greaseproof paper achieves its resistance without the use of chemicals or coatings. During the pulping process, the fibers are tightly bonded so that the gaps between them are smaller than grease molecules.
